Ecumenical Christianity rejects a type of Christianity that is consumerist and merely therapeutic, as well as the prosperity gospel, xenophobia, racism and nationalist forms of Christianity. This is according to general secretary of the World Council of Churches WCC, Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit. Dr Tveit was responding to a question yesterday, during the general assembly of the Federation of Swiss Protestant Churches.

Reports are that attacks on Christians in Ethiopia have increased over the last 30 years but more so in recent time, including the rise of church burnings in the last two years.  Some see the attacks against churches as a revolt against the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, which they believe is out of step with the times.

Anne Graham Lotz, evangelist and daughter of the late Billy Graham, reportedly said US President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw troops from northeast Syria could trigger an event prophesied about in Ezekiel 38 Syria.  Meanwhile American Vision president and author of The Gog and Magog End-Time Alliance Gary Demar says there are several problems with that interpretation.

According to a media source, an increasing number of U.S. Muslims reportedly want guidance from religious instructors who they can understand linguistically and culturally. It noted that the Quran is written in classical Arabic and many young Muslims aren’t well-versed in the language.  Traditional imams and scholars are said to be having more difficulty entering the United States.

Christian actor Patricia Heaton has warned entertainment mogul Kanye West about the difficulties that come with being a believer in Hollywood. She said she hoped the 42-year-old rapper is able to withstand the intense criticism he will have to endure. She added that there are those who want to see him fail at Christianity.
