Catholic bishops in Chile have reportedly denounced the looting and arson of churches there. They say the attacks show a lack of respect for God and those who believe in Him.  A priest whose church was desecrated has urged church members not to respond in anger. Anti-government demonstrations in Chile began last month over increase in subway fares, but turned violent in some parts of the country, leaving at least 20 dead and over 2000 injured.

A statutory inquiry has been launched into the Christ Embassy network of Pentecostal churches in the UK, in relation to a number of irregularities in the management of charity funds. The denomination has oversight for 90 churches across the UK.

Christian rugby player Israel Folau sparked outrage for linking Australia’s bushfires to the nation’s same-sex marriage and abortion laws. Folau made the remarks during a sermon in his Sydney church yesterday. Meanwhile, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison who is also a Christian, has condemned Folau’s remarks as appallingly insensitive.

The latest Pew Research poll has found that 63% of Americans say churches and other houses of worship should stay out of politics. Some 76% said religious congregations should not make political endorsements. The poll was conducted among 6,364 U.S. adults.

A Christian pastor in the Syrian city of Kobane has reported that under the pretext of fighting against the Kurds, a lot of churches have been targeted and destroyed while many Christians were forced to flee.
